v3.3 New Features & Improvements

  • Delivery Orders are a new feature and can be enabled in the settings menu (found by shift-clicking the ground with testingcheats). Delivery orders require at least one chef station to have Mark as Delivery Station This designates which chef will work on deliveries.

  • Walkup Orders are available in settings as well, and will spawn Sims who go directly to a Diner Order Beacon (or behind the chef station if you fail to place one). They will make an order and immediately take a seat, waiting until it's done.

  • Guests Place Orders is a new option. Guests will go to a Diner Order Beacon to make an order (found in build mode restaurants category, or search Carl). They will do this immediately upon arrival much as you might do at a fast food establishment or food truck.

  • Waiters Clean Much Faster by default. This is to help restaurants with multiple waiters. I designed the original in an admittedly silly way, and players gave me plenty of feedback that it felt like they were behind on cleaning This should no longer be a problem.

  • Take Your Seat Interaction is found when a diner is standing and in a state after being assigned a seat You can use this to tell a diner to please sit down.

  • Guests Spawn Closer is a new option found in the menu This will make guests spawn where player Sims do when arriving at the lot. The groups themselves also spawn together, much more quickly rather than waiting 5 minutes per Sim.

  • Leaving Build Mode will no longer close the restaurant. Use this sparingly and try to avoid moving important objects. It's probably safer to add than to remove.

  • The "Restaurant Not Functional" message will no longer appear.

  • More optimizations to try to stop stuck groups with Guests Seat Themselves. Sometimes the game is firing off bad situations.

  • I am aware of issues with restaurants with waiters having work stoppages but am not yet sure why. It seems to be dish-related. Try to get rid of dishes and placemats to get them working again.

  • The Meat Wall is now unlocked by default if you own Eco Lifestyle. Purchase a vertical garden and pick grow cruelty-free meat. EA locking up abilities behind careers irks me, as you lose them when you leave the career as well.

  • Fixed an issue with Guests Seat Themselves. If the game killed a situation but that group was next to be seated, your Sims might get stuck. We now remove them from the list if they are no longer present.

  • Fixed an issue with the Order Up! Digital Restaurant Counter. I think? I wasn't able to reproduce it, but it should be more likely to do its ONE JOB now.

  • The Set as Produce Inventory ability should no longer appear outside restaurants that are not owned by the player.

  • Made it a bit less likely that when Playing as Chef the situation will go on hold over some benign reaction while continuing to animate. They should hopefully stop over actual interactions now. IF you need one to stop, just select go here or some other simple menu interaction.

v3.21 Critical Bugfix

  • Fixed Blank Orders. Sims would sometimes receive nothing at an entire table due to a bug, leading to a time out and no meal ever served. This should prevent the bad orders being duplicated in the system and rescue them if it does occur.

v3.2 New Features!

  • Farm to Table - Grow produce in your garden and catch fish. Go to a refrigerator in your Sim's restaurant and Mark as Produce Inventory. Once you have transferred ingredients to the fridge, Sims can automatically cook with them when orders come in, boosting the profit of your restaurant. Better than selling them individually, I promise!

  • Farm To Table will also let players use meat from cows, eggs from chickens, the meat wall, and ingredients from the Cottage Living Expansion Pack.

  • New Object - Order Up! Digital Restaurant Counter: This new object will automatically count how many orders need to be cooked by the chef. Slap it on a wall and you'll always know how much work needs to be done. This was made by the lovely Ravasheen

  • Sous Chefs - When playing as chef but having NPCs , you can now enable the Sous Chef system in the menu. This will prevent them finishing meals. They will simply help speed up cooking times and your chef's skill will be used to determine quality.

  • Sim Owners and their family can now Apologize for Wait - this appears after a guest has been in the restaurant at least 40 mins and may be used up until the point their meal is delivered. Using Apologize for Wait can help you earn good Wait Time bonuses and also prevent guests leaving so soon.

V3.17 Bugfix Update!

  • Fixed the infamous One-Star Bug that has been plaguing players. This was my fault, but at least I understand the why's and can confidently say you should only have guests giving 1 star most of the time if it is deserved.

  • Fixed an issue with Chefs when playing as one and having an NPC. Use Set as Main Chef Station on the one your Sim will use. NPCs will not be able to use this. This replaces the "Player Counts as Chef" option (soon to be removed). Note if you want more chefs you must hire them and ensure they have stations not marked.

  • Improved playing as chef. Most of the time, your Sim will be able to stay at the station in between meals (ex if playing with a  waiter) without constantly clicking to start meals.

  • 3.17 is the new version number to fix the inconsistency with like "3.07" instead of 3.107.

  • New Option: Diners Pick Up Meals - Lets diners pick up their own platter when it's ready, adding more restaurant customization.

  • New Option: Larger Groups - Select up to 5 additional children for family meals, or up to 6 additional Sims for standard diners, leading to groups of up to 8.

  • New Option: Max Waiting Groups - Allows you to have groups waiting to be seated when your restaurant is popular and you do not have enough tables for everyone.

  • Super Smart Dish Collection System - Sims will now pick up dishes more intelligently both in restaurants and throughout the game. They will pick up the closest dishes first and try never to zig zag.

  • New Interaction: Take Table - Players who are dining in NPC restaurants can now just claim a table when the option 'Guests Seat Themselves' is turned on, so you can pick whichever you want without interacting with the host.

Dine Out Reloaded v3.0 Improvements

New Owner Abilities

In normal Dine Out, owners really do not have enough to do. It's mostly clicking to encourage employees, managing their pay rates, and clicking a couple of socials on the Diners. This needed fixing, and I achieved it.

Restaurant Owners and their family members have four new abilities:

  • Show to Table - Click Sims standing about the host station, and you can seat them. No host required.

  • Take Order - Click Sims who have been checked in, and you can take their orders.

  • Cook Orders - Click Cook Orders on the Chef Station and your Sim will cook the orders until they run out.

  • Deliver Food - You can also click the food platter to Deliver Food. My script knows which guests' table it belongs to.

All of these interactions rely on your Sim's skills, just like the Host, Waiter, and Chef. Waiters do well with Charisma, as do Hosts. Chefs benefit from both Gourmet Cooking and Mixology. You only get a little XP from creating a meal, so practice outside work hours to unlock high quality food that will surely please your guests!

These were hard to accomplish, and represent the bulk of the work the last few weeks of Dine Out Reloaded development.

New Restaurant Options

Shift-click the ground with testingcheats on to access restaurant options.

I wanted players to be able to customize the feel for their restaurant. How formal is it? You may not want Hosts Seat Guests. This will stop Hosts walking Sim to their seats, and instead tell them a table to go to on their own. You might even skip the host and use the new Guests Seat Themselves option, which will skip the arrival stage completely. Sims will come in and walk right up to an available table.

Running a restaurant all by yourself can be tough, so I wanted to give options that will help Sims 4 players to customize the experience a bit further. You can decide if waiters are responsible for delivering meals and taking orders. Disabling either of these will put it on your Sim or their family members to do these actions. This can give you more time to cook or seat guests, or schmooze with customers to get those 5 star reviews.

If you want to hire a chef later, but do not want the first to come in you can use Player Counts as Chef. This will let your Sim be one of the two chefs. Helpful for a very busy restaurant!

Sims eat way, way too fast. EA took changes to this too far and made Sims eat faster in all instances, killing family meals where Sims are done in two bites. With the Sims Eat Politely option, Diners will stick around twice as long as normal to finish their meals. This can help Sims have time to converse and drink in between killing their entrees.

What's New in V2.5

Why Sims Don't Show Up to Work

You may be surprised to learn this, but Dine Out will let you hire waiters who do not qualify to actually be waiters. Same applies to hosts and chefs. The fix for this was to make sure all the criteria that are required for a Sim to show up at work are included in the hiring menu. It's literally why some players never saw the Sims they hired show up, and a point of frustration for many. I fixed it with the help of testers.

Meal Delivery

Despite my best efforts, there were still cases in Dine Out Reloaded 2 that caused meals to sometimes fail delivery. It turns out this is by design. Bad design, not some obscure bug. The reasons took time to find but were spelled out plainly. Waiters failing an interaction for any reason could disappear a meal, forever dooming it to be stuck. Worse, Sims could not order again.

I've cleaned up about 5 major causes of Sims meals failing delivery and it feels much, much more reliable. Near or at 100% reliability.

Before this fix and in normal Dine Out, players could end up behind several NPC meals when they first visit a restaurant, so I made a change. The player is prioritized by Waiters when it comes to having their order taken. This is to simulate that the other Sims already had their order taken.

Bribe The Host

What is more, Sims can choose to bribe the Host for $100 (by clicking the host or table) and the Chef will then cook their meal first. You can be doubly prioritized, and make the most of a restaurant visit without it taking 8-10 hours.

Bad Behaviors

While DO Reloaded 2 did a decent job of stopping bad behaviors, more potentially strange interactions have come out since I made it. Sims had a very out-of-place habit of sitting on the floor cross-legged while waiting for a table and sometimes after being seated would still obsess over celebrities. Both of these activities are prohibited in restaurants along with several others.

Waiter Logic

This is my best take on waiters in Sims 4. They operate smoothly and will rescue tables that have food or drink on them, going into cleaning mode if a table is blocked.

For now Waiters will no longer drop platters. It's a very bug-prone feature that honestly feels repetitive and frustrating for players, particularly when visiting a restaurant. I've eliminated it until I can stabilize it. Even then, I will only be re-enabling it on lots owned by the player so as to add a reason to train waiters.

Menu Shenanigans

You may be surprised to learn this, but the game is actually kind of smart in how it chooses foods for Sims. But to a fault. It is entirely possible a player can make a menu for their business which offers Sims 0 valid choices. EA has seemingly forgotten to put tags on newer foods that came with various packs, and no Sims can ever choose them. This could result in a Waiter bringing out the order only it was completely invisible. What happened? No food was chosen. I fixed this so that SOMETHING will always be chosen.

Instructions:  Unzip to your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods folder. Ensure Script Mods are turned on in Game Options > Other. If you have trouble with the download or the mod working, attempt using save as on the files as some browsers treat ts4script files incorrectly.

DELETE ALL FILES OF THE MOD BEFORE AN UPDATED INSTALL, INCLUDING SETTINGS.
